The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) as well as the Office of Deputy Minister Ms Nomalungelo Gina has learnt with regret about the comments made by the Technical Specialist, Mr Khaye Nkwanyana on the social media post titled, “Who is going to liberate King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini from that politician called Gatsha Buthelezi?”

The Department and the Office of Deputy Minister Gina would like to put it on record that:

  1. The official is not the Special Advisor to the Deputy Minister but a Technical Specialist in the Office of the Deputy Minister. These are two distinct functions and roles.
  2. Deputy Minister Gina is a seasoned politician and holds Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who is a fellow Member of Parliament with outmost respect. Therefore, the views of Mr Nkwanyana towards him are not shared by the Deputy Minister, her office and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition at all.
  3. The Deputy Minister respects the Royal Household and King Misuzulu Ka Zwelithini. She regrets that an official in her office uttered negative views on social media, since she does not hold such views about the King of the Zulu Nation.
  4. Internal disciplinary and corrective processes will be instituted against the said official, with immediate effect.
