Any Partnership amongst Africans is a Win-Win – Acting Ambassador Mato |
The Acting South Africa Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Mr Luvuyo Mato says any partnership amongst Africans is a win-win partnership because when Africans partner together, Africa wins. Mato was addressing businesspeople during the trade and investment seminar hosted in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire today.
The trade and investment seminar was part of the Outward Trade and Investment Mission (OTIM) organised by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) in the country. “The Africa we want demands that we partner in investments and trade in goods and services first amongst ourselves. It is for this reason, that I want to salute the South African business delegates present here that chose to come all the way from South Africa to seek trade and investment opportunities in Cote d’Ivoire in fulfilment of the Africa we want and the implementation of the Continental Free Trade Area,” said Mato. Mato saluted the Ivorian business delegates who declared themselves ready to partner in trade and investments with their South African companies. “We also appreciate the Ivorian government’s commitment to strengthening, deepening and consolidating of our bilateral relationship through ensuring high level government participation in this seminar,” he said. The representative of the Ivorian Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr Vakaramoko Doumbia said while the country has good relations with South Africa, trade and investment relations remains low even with a number of South African businesses operating in the country. “Côte d’Ivoire has aims for structural transformation in the economy through industrialisation. These require partnerships and investments in infrastructure, electricity, mining and ports in order to improve the investment environment that will attract positive results,” he said. Doumbia urged the South Africans to engage and joint resources to move the country forward.
