The 2022 State of the Nation Address by the President highlighted the strategic importance of positioning South Africa as a global leader in the Green Hydrogen market. Consequently, the green hydrogen panel developed a Green Hydrogen Commercialisation Strategy (GHCS) and on 30 November 2022, cabinet approved the publication of GHCS for public comments. Through the execution of catalytic projects the GHCS seeks to operationalise the Department of Science and Innovation’s Hydrogen Society Road Map, approved by cabinet in 2021, and fast track the development of a domestic green hydrogen sector. All stakeholders are requested to send comments or queries before 3 February 2023 to GreenEconomy@thedtic.gov.za
