The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) will host the Green Economy Investment Dialogue at the East London Industrial Development Zones, Eastern Cape on Thursday, 28 February 2019 from 09:00.
The dialogue is aimed at giving industry stakeholders a brief overview of the Green Economy success projects, funding initiatives and government’s policy direction on various sectors of the green industry. According to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies South Africa views the green economy as a sustainable development path based on addressing the interdependence between economic growth, social protection and natural ecosystem with potential to create much needed jobs. “South Africa’s approach is to ensure that green economy programmes are supported by practical and implementable action plan. Therefore, the importance of building on existing best processes, programmes, initiatives and indigenous knowledge in key sectors is part of the green economy objective,” says Davies. The dialogue will be presented in a panel format with experts in the Green Industry being panellist, who will speak on funding in the green industry/economy, investment opportunities in the green economy and also the government’s policy direction on green industry.
