This video showcases the achievements of beneficiaries who participated in the Aerospace Industry Support Initiative (AISI). It highlights the strides the programme has made in advancing localisation, industrialisation, technology development, and the growth of globally competitive South African enterprises.
The AISI was established by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) in 2006 and is implemented by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The programme plays a pivotal role in strengthening South Africa’s aerospace, defence, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Over the past two decades, the AISI has contributed significantly to industrial capability development, innovation, supplier growth, skills development, and export competitiveness across the industry. The success stories featured in the video demonstrate the integral role the AISI plays in supporting the country’s industrial development objectives and fostering a sustainable, innovation-driven manufacturing ecosystem.
