The Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Ms Nomalungelo Gina, will take centre stage as a keynote speaker at the upcoming Timber Construction Conference. The highly event will take place at the Future Africa Campus, University of Pretoria on 12 September 2023.
The inaugural Timber Construction Conference is a highly anticipated event that aims to bring together industry experts, professionals, and stakeholders to explore and promote the theme of “Growing Timber Connections.” It will serve as a platform to discuss the sustainable and innovative potential of timber construction in South Africa.
Gina’s address is expected to provide invaluable insights into the timber construction industry’s future. Her address is expected to focus on several key themes, including a focus on the opportunities and challenges in advancing timber construction as a sustainable building practice. She will also share insights on government initiatives, policies, and government support for the timber construction industry.
It is anticipatd that her address will highlight the exploration of the opportunities and challenges facing the advancement of timber construction as a sustainable building practice. An overview of government policies and initiatives aimed at supporting and promoting the timber construction sector, highlighting the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition’s role in this endeavour.
She will shed some light on how timber construction aligns with broader sustainability goals, emphasising its eco-friendliness and potential to reduce the carbon footprint in the construction sector and the importance of collaboration between government bodies, industry stakeholders, and experts to drive innovation and growth in the timber construction field.
The Timber Construction Conference will also feature an industry and student projects exhibition and is expected to draw a diverse audience of industry professionals. It will serve as a crucial platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering collaborations that will shape the future of timber construction in South Africa.
