DRC Mining Week Exhibition Kicks Off in Lubumbashi |
| The South African National Pavilion Exhibition at the DRC Mining Week exhibition taking place in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was has officially been opened to give stakeholders, agents and distributors in the mining sector a glimpse of what South Africa has to offer.
The companies are showcasing value-added products, and services targeted for the mining sector. These products and services range from capital equipment, safety gears, engineering and geological services, steel, mining lights and conveyors. The African Manager for GET Mining Services, Ms Olivia Fuka says the exhibition will expose GET to the mining sector in the DRC for ease of penetration into the market. “Since this is our first visit to the DRC and our first ever DRC Mining Week, we want to introduce our motor grader, bulldozer edges and loader buckets to this market and also have a meeting with a number of distributors in this region,’ said Fuka. The Senior Hydrogeologist for Gauteng based ITASACA Africa, Ms Wadzanai Chimhanda said her- engineering and scientific consulting company which specialises in solving hydrogeologic and geomechanics related problems in the mining, civil, petroleum and environmental industries. “We are aiming to reconnect with our clients and show our presence in Africa and hope to create new contacts and clients that we can provide our services to or form partnerships with,” said Chimhanda. South Africa is the top mining importer into the DRC with 21.4%, followed by China at 15%, Belgium and Zambia with 7 respectively.
