The Khoebo Innovation Promotion Programme (KIPP) is a programme of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic). Its objective is to support early-stage innovative enterprises in commercialising their locally developed technologies.
The KIPP seeks to introduce new innovative technologies into the economy through the provision of financial and non-financial support. The programme prioritises rural and township-based innovative solutions.
The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) administers the programme on behalf of the dtic.
The KIPP offers two schemes, namely:
- The Grassroots Innovation Facilitation Scheme (GIFs)
- Provides funding to support the commercialisation of locally developed innovative grassroots solutions through 100% grant funding.
- SME Growth Scheme (SMEGs)
- Provides funding for early-stage companies offering innovative products, processes, and services. The scheme offers a combination of subordinate loans and grants.
