Made in SA cosmetics products to be showcased in Italy |
| The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) will lead South African manufactures of cosmetics, perfumes and other personal care products to the Cosmoprof Worldwide exhibition which will take place in Bologna, Italy from 14 – 18 March 2019.
Cosmoprof Worldwide is a trade fair for the beauty industry. It is intended for beauticians, hairdressers, owners of nail salons, beauty salons, shops for natural products and perfume. Byers, wholesalers and manufacturers of beauty products are also represented at the fair. According to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies the value of the cosmetics sector is estimated to have grown to R27.35bn at retail level and R19.69bn at manufacturing level. He says in the formal cosmetics sector there are approximately 250 companies that employ more than 60 000 people. “Over the last two years the South African cosmetics industry has also experienced an estimated annual growth rate of 4.6%. Therefore, Cosmoprof presents the opportunity for South African cosmetic companies to showcase the ‘Made in South Africa’ in the South African national pavillion that will be set up by the dti at the exhibition,”,” says Davies. He adds that South Africa’s participation at Cosmoprof is expected to have a positive impact in terms of increasing export sales and export orders which will stimulate job creation. “The exhibition will expose South African companies to available trade and investment opportunities and will be a good platform to promote South African exhibitors to potential customers from around the globe, to obtain new business and penetrate new markets,” he says. The companies participating at Cosmoprof received financial support from the dti’s Export Marketing and Investment Assistance (EMIA) Scheme to showcase products at the event. Enquiries: |
