A Mbombela-based agro-processing company, Niice Foods, will be heading to Germany this week in search of more export markets in Europe for their products.
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) will set up a national pavillion at the Anuga Food and Beverage Trade Fair taking place in Cologne, Germany from 4-8 October 2025, in which 30 South African agro-processing companies will showcase their products.
The assistance provided to the companies to seek export markets for their products across the globe is in line with the country’s export market diversification initiatives. The objective is for the companies to find export markets that will result in them increasing their production to service the new markets, expanding their factories, thereby increasing their contribution in creating employment and growing the South African economy.
A large number of international importers are expected to descend on the show in search of prime products that have the capacity to tantalise the taste buds of consumers across the world.
Niice Foods manufactures value-added macadamia nut products including macadamia cooking oil, macadamia nut butter spreads, and seasonings. The products are already exported to Germany, United States of America, Mauritius and Malaysia.
The Co-Founder and Managing Director of Niice Foods, Taryn Muller is confident that her company’s products will capture the attention of the international importers.
“Our main objective for travelling to Germany is to secure new retail, import, and distribution partners in key European Union countries and the United Arab Emirates. This will be our second consecutive participation in the fair. Anuga 2023 provided an incredible platform us to showcase our premium value-added macadamia ready to eat products to the world, and the event proved extremely fruitful,” says Muller.
She describes Anuga as an incredible international event which is more than just an exhibition, as it offers an incomparable opportunity to network with peers, competitors and industry experts.
“It is an event where your business is taken seriously. It provides us with an opportunity to research and learn insights into trends and innovation and be on an international stage. It is an ideal platform for us to expand our global market presence and establish long-term, strategic territory partnerships,” adds Muller.
“We will use our participation to elevate brand recognition and showcase our new value-added macadamia. Our premium macadamia cooking oil is our flagship product and is positioned perfectly as a more affordable, functional, and versatile cooking oil with an extremely favourable health profile compared to the established olive oil and other vegetable oils. We also have several new oil product formats that we have added to our stable that we will be showcasing to the international market,” notes Muller.
She describes Niice Foods’ products as 100% South African, plant-based and free from animal ingredients. They boast clean labeling, and have long shelf lives without the use of preservatives, additives, colours, flavours, chemicals and stabilisers. The products are available at approximately 250 Checkers and 60 Pick ‘n Pay stores nationally, Spar, various delis and small retailers, and online. The company is providing employment to twelve people.
