the dti to Host Public Consultation Session on Designation of Proposed Bojanala Special Economic Zone in North West |
| The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) will host a public participation session with the community of the Bojanala District Municipality at the Orbit TVET College, Mankwe Campus, in Mogwase, North West on Friday, 21 June 2019. This meeting follows the publication of the notice of intention to designate the Bojanala Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Government Gazette on 10 May 2019.
The application for the designation of the proposed Bojanala SEZ was submitted by the North West’s Department of Economy and Enterprise Development, through the North West Development Corporation. The designation of the proposed SEZ will afford the Bojanala region with an opportunity to develop a purposeful and world-class mineral beneficiation infrastructure. This will go a long way in ensuring that the economic value, and associated economic opportunities of mineral endowments that abound the Bushveld Complex are fully optimised. With respect to the Bojanala SEZ, special focus will be on the beneficiation of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs), mining capital equipment, renewable energy component manufacturing and agro-processing industries. Members of the public and interested parties have until 24 June 2019 to support or object to the designation of the proposed Bojanala SEZ. Enquiries: Sidwell Medupe-Departmental Spokesperson |
