The South African companies  that are based in China will participate in the 2nd  China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (Catexpo), that will take place in Changsha City, Hunan Province, China from 26-28 September 2021.  The theme of the Expo will be “New Start, New Opportunities, New Accomplishment”.

The Expo is a hybrid event comprising both physical and virtual activities. It is aimed at providing a platform to enterprises to discuss import and export business and purchasing through online systems.

According to the Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Mr Fikile Majola, South Africa is privileged to participate in the Expo as a Guest Country of Honour this year.

“China is strategic to South Africa and participating in the Expo will expand, elevate and deepen the mutually-beneficial economic and trade cooperation. South Africa is a member of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (Focac),” says Majola.

He adds that the Expo will provide the South African companies with an opportunity to interact with well-established Chinese companies across various sectors from manufacturing to services and retail.

“Participating companies will also have an opportunity to participate in the online business-to-business interaction and matchmaking. We encourage participating firms to take full advantage of this opportunity and come out with mutually beneficial deals,” says Majola.

The trade and investment promotion Expo will focus on food and agro-products, healthcare, infrastructure, China-Africa post Covid-19 pandemic industry chain cooperation, as well as business consultation.  The event will consists of seven exhibition sections, including China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation, Guest Country of Honour, African Commercial Goods, and International Cooperation with Africa.

Chinese and African dignitaries, diplomats, governors and mayors, as well as representatives from international organisations, financial institutions, chambers of commerce, associations, entrepreneurs, buyers, exhibitors, specialists, scholars and members of the media are expected to attend the event.
