The South African Ambassador to Germany, Mr Stone Sizani has described Germany as a strategic partner to South Africa and said it was pleasing to see South African fresh produce exporters showcasing their proudly South African products at the Fruit Logistica Berlin 2025.

Sizani made these remarks during a walk-about at the South African National Pavilion at Fruit Logistica Berlin international exhibition  which started yesterday and will end on Friday, 7 February 2025.

“Germany is one of South Africa’s strategic partners and is the third-largest market for South African exports, the third-largest source of overseas tourists and a major investor and development partner,” said Sizani.

During his walk-about and engagements with the South African exporters, Sizani was impressed by the calibre of exporters and quality of the products that are on display in this international exhibition. He underscored his satisfaction of seeing young exporters participating in the show. According to him, it shows that South Africa is in good hands.

“The exporters expressed confidence of generating good trade leads which could turn into export sales. It was also encouraging to see the high volume of traffic to the South African pavilion from potential partners,” said Sizani.

The exporters from Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the Western Cape received support from the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) to showcase their proudly South African products. The products that are on display include pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, berries, citrus fruits, grapes and farm costing solution software.

the dtic offered the support to the firms in order to increase their export capacity and access to global markets.  For a number of years, Fruit Logistica Berlin has been one of the few flagship national pavilions of the dtic in Europe. During South Africa’s last participation at Fruit Logistica, export sales at the event and six months after amounted to more than R400 million.
