Rise Uniforms, the manufacturer and supplier of protective clothing and corporate wear is ready to rise at the DRC Mining Week, which will take place in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from 1-3 June 2022.
Rise Uniforms, which is based in Phillipi, Cape Town is one of the twenty mining exporters that are supported by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) to participate and exhibit their products and services at the DRC Mining Week.
The Chief Executive Officer of Rise Uniforms, Ms Ntombie Nonxuba says she will be offering the DRC market high quality protective clothing which is 100% manufactured in South Africa. She anticipates coming back with a list of new clients and orders from the show.
“We expect the show to open more export doors for our products. We are currently exporting some of our products to eSwatini through one of our big retail shops. It has always been our objective to have access to the mining sector, and this show offers the prospect to supply our products directly to the mining companies,” says Nonxuba.
With 13 years in business and employing 55 staff members, Nonxuba says the business was affected by Covid-19 lockdowns and the July 2021 lootings.
Nonxuba says it is the first time that her company has received support from the dtic to participate in the international exhibition, and she is grateful for the opportunity as it came at the right time.
the dtic assisted these companies to participate in the exhibition through its Export Marketing & Investment Assistance (EMIA) Scheme. The objective of the scheme is to develop export markets for South African products and services and to recruit new foreign direct investment into the country.
The Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Ms Nomalungelo Gina says this is a perfect opportunity to market SA’s mining equipment and related products. It will also create an opportunity to interact and network with potential agents and distributors in the DRC. South Africa is the DRC’s biggest supplier of foreign goods and services, providing more than 20% of the country’s total imports.
