Description
Assistance for In-store Promotions is provided to groups of five or more small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) and/or historically disadvantaged (HDI) South African manufacturers to showcase their products in targeted retail outlets abroad.
Eligible Enterprises
- Entities that manufacture products or provide services in South Africa and fall within the dtic priority sectors.
- Entities that outsource their manufacturing process in South Africa and fall within the dtic priority sectors.
Financial assistance available to SMMEs and HDIs
- Economy class return airfare (maximum of R20 000)
- Subsistence allowance (R3 000 per day for duration of event; maximum of 10 days)
- Transport of samples (maximum of R20 000)
- Physical or virtual exhibition costs (maximum of R65 000)
- Additional financial support for persons with disabilities (maximum of R35 000)
- Marketing materials to a maximum of R7 000 per event and digital listings of R3 000 per annum for entities with ≥51% ownership by women, youth and persons with disabilities, and first-time applicants
- Marketing materials to a maximum of R3 500 per event and digital listings to a maximum of 50% of the cost, capped at R1 500 per entity per annum, for entities with ≤50% ownership by women, youth, persons with disabilities, and entities that are not first-time applicants
Financial assistance for ‘other size entities’ exceeding the turnover criteria for SMMEs
- Physical or virtual exhibition costs (maximum of R65 000)
- Marketing materials to a maximum of R7 000 per event and digital listings of R3 000 per annum for entities with ≥51% ownership by women, youth and persons with disabilities, and first-time applicants
- Marketing materials to a maximum of R3 500 per event and digital listings to a maximum of 50% of the cost, capped at R1 500 per entity per annum, for entities with ≤50% ownership by women, youth, persons with disabilities, and entities that are not first-time applicants
General information
A completed application must be submitted to the dtic three to six months before the commencement date of the event. To apply, complete and email the application form to EMIAContactApps@thedtic.gov.za
You must have the following documents available in PDF format to e-mail as attachments:
Generic documents
- Certificate of Incorporation
- B-BBEE Certificate or affidavit, where applicable
- Financial Statements: Audited/Reviewed/Compiled
- Brochure or website print-out of products or services
- Exporters registration certificate (not applicable for service-oriented entities, export councils, industry associations and joint action groups)
- Export marketing plan
- Entities that outsource their manufacturing process or parts thereof: Valid formal outsourcing/manufacturing agreement/s. The agreement should be signed and dated, and stipulate the outsourced activities and expiry date of the agreement.
- Signed agreement with the retail outlet.
- Letter of support from foreign office representative.
- SARS Tax Compliance Status (TCS) pin document
- Three quotations for marketing materials from three different service providers of choice or a letter stating that assistance will not be required in this regard, including the reason as to why (e.g. using promotional materials in stock)
Additional documents required from SMMEs/HDIs
- Three air ticket quotations from three different service providers of choice or a letter stating that assistance will not be required in this regard, including the reason as to why (e.g. not applicable for virtual events)
- Three quotations for freight-forwarding from three different service providers of choice or a letter stating that assistance will not be required in this regard, including the reason as to why (e.g. samples will be taken as excess baggage)
- Motivation and three quotations for additional assistance for person with disabilities
