Description
Individual Inward Bound Mission (IIBM) assistance is provided to South African entities organising an inward buying mission to enable a prospective buyer or investor to conclude export orders or attract foreign direct investment.
Eligible enterprises
- Entities that manufacture products or provide services in South Africa and fall within the dtic priority sectors.
- Entities that outsource their manufacturing process in South Africa and fall within the dtic priority sectors.
- South African export trading houses and commission agents representing at least three local manufacturing and/or service entities that fall within the dtic priority sectors.
- South African export councils, industry associations and joint action groups representing at least five of its members in the local manufacturing and/or services sectors that fall within the dtic priority sectors.
Financial assistance available to SMMEs and HDIs
- Economy class return airfare (maximum of R20 000)
- Subsistence allowance (R3 000 per day for two appointments per day; maximum of five days)
- Rental of vehicle (R300 per day; maximum of five days)
- Transport of samples (maximum R10 000; only available for virtual contact with potential buyers/investors)
- 100% of the cost, capped at R10 000, of the design of digital marketing materials and/or listing on digital platform of the buyer company (only available for virtual contact with potential buyers/investors)
General information
A completed application form must be submitted to the dtic three to six months before the commencement date of the event.

The following documents should be ready to e-mail as attachments:
- Generic documents
- Certificate of Incorporation
- B-BBEE Certificate or affidavit, where applicable
- SARS Tax Compliance Status (TCS) pin document
- Financial Statements: Audited/Reviewed/Compiled
- Brochure or website print-out of products or services
- Exporters registration certificate (not applicable for service-oriented entities, export councils, industry associations and joint action groups)
- Export marketing plan
- Commission agent: Three agency agreements with entities to be represented at the specific event
- Export trading house: Three signed letters of permission from entities to be represented at the specific event
- South African export councils, industry associations and joint action groups: Five signed letters of permission from entities to be represented at the specific event.
- Entities that outsource their manufacturing process or parts thereof: Valid formal outsourcing/manufacturing agreement/s. The agreement should be signed and dated, and stipulate the outsourced activities and the expiry date of the agreement.
- Three air ticket quotations from three different service providers of choice or a letter stating that assistance will not be required in this regard, including the reason as to why (e.g. not applicable for virtual events)
- Three quotations for freight-forwarding from three different service providers of choice or a letter stating that assistance will not be required in this regard, including the reason as to why (e.g. samples will be taken as excess baggage). Only available for virtual events
- Three comparable valid quotations for the design of digital marketing materials from three different service providers of choice. Only available for virtual events
- Profile of invited company and confirmation of duly appointed official from the company.
- Detailed itinerary with planned daily work activities.
